  5. Old Business – Hoopla Presentation follow up
    1. General overview of Hoopla. Technical issues noted with many participants reporting it was hard to hear and communicate. Hoopla provided no follow up notes since meeting.

  7. PPLC Topics
    1. Renaming DEIA Sig
      1. DEIA Sig did an online poll and settled on two possible new names Community Outreach or CORE (Community Out Reach Engagement)
        1. Motion from Jen Obermeier – Do not rename and disband the DEIA SIG
        2. Second: Casey McPhee
        3. Discussion: The group considered whether changing the name would also change its mission. It was determined that it would not.

      2. Marketing and New Partnerships – Michelle Howard\
        1. PPLC partnered with I Love The Burg for a limited one-time campaign that included an editorial, an Instagram reel, and a TikTok video. The campaign received more than 150,000 Instagram views, 6,000 likes, and 2,000 comments.
        2. Museum Pass update: Penny Lane (Beatles Museum) is relocating from Dunedin to St. Pete. Once settled, it is interested in joining the program, with tentative onboarding in August 2026.
        3. Summer Reading Programs ‘Reading with the Rays’ from the Tampa Bau Rays and ‘Scores through Stories’ from the Tampa Bay Rowdies are available this summer. PPLC is expanding game card and prize pickup locations to include Lealman Exchange. In discussions for Highpoint Center as a location.
  8. PPLC Board Meeting Updates
    1. Phyllis attended. The Board thanked Glenn for his service and wished him well. The audited financial report was discussed, and the Board and Finance Committee asked many questions. Cheryl shared her BOCC presentation and received feedback. Her review is in progress. If you have not already done so, please send Bernadette your questionnaire about Cheryl. There was no public comment. Next meeting is June 24th

    1. Safety Harbor – Britney Norsworthy
      1. New Circulation Desk being installed soon
      2. Sunday hours start June 1st
    2. Clearwater – Jennifer Obermaier

    3. Dunedin – Phyllis Gorshe
      1. Tracey Enerson Wood will be doing an author talk on June 11th
      2. Sarah Penner did an author talk last month
      3. Hoisting a Declaration of Independent themed celebration for America’s 250.
    4. East Lake – Anne Maire Nurnberger
        1. Summer Reding Planning is in full swing
        2. Received a $1,200 grant from the Rotary club to be used for summer programming and prizes.
    5. Gulf Beaches – Stanley Silverstein
      1. Had new shelving installed
      2. Hosting a poetry contest in the summer
      3. The library will distribute booklets featuring the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, along with commemorative flags for America’s 250th celebration.
    6. Gulfport – Dave Mather
      1. No updates
    7. Largo – Casey McPhee
      1. Recent romance author event was hugely successful with 1,500 attendees and 48 authors.
      2. Replaced HVAC and Fire alarm system
      3. New Café vendor ‘Natures Table’ was approved. Will serve food and coffee.
      4. Bookstore is getting refreshed with new carpet etc.
      5. New children’s activity wall was installed
    8. Oldsmar – Susan Hurley
      1. Getting quotes for a renovation of the front of the library
    9. Palm Harbor – Cathy Wos
      1. Robotics Team is going to World Championships
      2. Barnes & Noble/Palm Harbor is hosting a fundraiser for the library on June 13th
      3. Received TBLC innovation grant for camera check out program
      4. Summer reading kicks off on May 30th
    10. Pinellas Park – Ginger Brengle
      1. Lighter programming in May to prepare for summer
      2. Laminate replaced on service center counter
      3. Bunting for America’s 250 going on all city buildings
    11. Pete Beach
      1. Hosted a program called ‘Hurricane Helene is History’ by USF professor and students. It was standing room only.
    12. Petersburg – Beth Lindsay
      1. South Community Library remains closed after fire. Getting quotes for repair
      2. West Community Library have redone their children’s area with a garden theme. Will have a grand reveal in June.
      3. Summer reading kicks off on May 30th.
    13. Seminole – Leanna Kiggins
      1. 3 staff going to FLA conference
      2. Waiting for official updates on Director and Librarian positions.
      3. Summer Reading kicks off on June 1st.
    14. Tarpon Springs – Cari Rupkalvis
