- Roll Call – The meeting was called to order at 1:00 pm by Lisa Kothe.

- Acceptance of Minutes from the June 2024 Meeting – Motion: Betcinda Kettells, including proposed revision; 2nd: Lisa Kothe. Motion carried.

- Circulation/Borrower Services: Met Aug 6th. Discussed PPLC fee cards, Kenneth City vs. Pinellas Park member card, St. Pete commemorative card, Libby update, new SIG calendar, online registration
- Adult Services: Meeting tomorrow
- DEIA: Meeting on Wed. Working on staffing table at upcoming International Folk Fair
- FOL: Inaugural meeting held last month at Seminole Community Library, attended by representatives of approximately a half-dozen Friends groups, plus TBLC-sponsored consultant Peter Pearson. Informal group discussion: membership and fees, membership reciprocity, lifetime memberships, pricing of materials for sale, etc. Request for volunteers to serve on group Executive Board. Next meeting scheduled for Oct 18th (hybrid) at Seminole Community Library. Information can be found on the SIG calendar on the PPLC website, or contact Angela Porcelli, at Seminole.

- New Business
- Lisa – Instructional staff from the Pinellas County Schools would like to present at an upcoming LDAC meeting on the World Reading initiative. Glenn Ferdman moved to have them present at the September LDAC meeting for not more than 10-15 minutes; Lisa Kothe seconded. Motion carried.
- PPLC Topics
- Database and eContent funding FY’24-25: Cheryl shared usage and cost information with the group for 2023.
- Patron registration and procedures: Dino shared information and requested it be shared with individual library’s circulation staff
- SPIFFS participation request: Cheryl requested volunteers from member libraries to staff a PPLC table during school days at the International Folk Fair Oct 17-18, at Vinoy Park from 9am to 3pm
- PPLC Board Meeting Update – Lisa: Phyllis presented on Dunedin to the Board. Jen will present on Clearwater at the next meeting. Cheryl-Audited financial statements were presented. The Board passed a personnel policy.
- Public Comment – None
- Announcements from PPLC Libraries (10 minutes)
- Dunedin: new playground equipment scheduled for week of Sept 6th, 2 new self-checks to be installed week of Aug 28th, mural recently installed in reading garden, another one to be installed in children’s area
- East Lake: 20th (?) anniversary celebration to be held in Nov
- Gulf Beaches: Resealing and striping of parking lot
- Largo: Budget preps, staff work-life balance and opportunities for professional growth is a priority of city, adding solar panels to the library
- Oldsmar: Library took over Historical Society collection earlier this month, will open to public in November
- Palm Harbor: Summer fundraiser drew 120 people and raised $1,100, ribbon-cutting ceremony held for new little free art library
- Pinellas Park: Bathrooms and Friends shop in lobby to be redone. A mural for the library is in the planning phase
- St. Pete Beach: The library is flying a half-dozen Japanese koy kite flags (thanks to a patron donation), along with flags of the library, new point-of-sale system for credit card payments is in the works, they have a f/t position open
- St. Pete: Also installing a new point-of-sale system for credit card payments, they have 2 positions open
- Seminole: Interest income from a bequest is being used next fiscal year for the acquisition of an Overdrive Advantage account, to supplement the County Overdrive collection, and to create a scholarship for library staff interested in pursuing an MLIS degree, carpeting replacement tentatively scheduled for consecutive weekends: Oct 4th (2nd floor); Oct 11th (1st floor)
- Tarpon Springs: Tarpon museum(s) being added to the Cultural Pass program
- Safety Harbor: Construction is now 50% (?) complete, with a target completion date of March, 2025
