LDAC Meeting Minutes November 2024
Pre-Meeting Discussion: Glenn asked who has an art exhibition space; he is meeting with Creative Pinellas soon about a possible partnership. Dave (Pinellas Park) and Lois confirmed they have a space, and often the art is for sale by the artists. Cheryl confirmed that Clearwater and Largo also have spaces.

- Youth Services, Lois – Held at Palm Harbor Library 10-3-24; low attendance. Two presenters (storyteller and book publisher).
- Cataloging, Susan – Next meeting: 11-20-24.
- Circulation / Borrower Services, Cari – Met 10-29-24.
- Went over Florida Orchestra voucher procedures, and non-resident versus reciprocal borrower cards.
- Indian Rocks Beach may not re-open for another 6 months;
- Largo opened temporary resident cards for IRB residents and is considering bookmobile visits
- Mobile app pushed back to January 2025
- Online registration is still going strong
- Circ SIG chairs continuing for another year

- They met on 10-25-24 at Seminole; 6 or 7 were present (3 from St. Pete branches); they elected officers, discussed current challenges, listed ten future meeting discussion topics, and identified goals for the upcoming year.

- There was a question as to whether or not bills (for items overdue) are continuing to be sent out; Dino confirmed they are

- Dave (Pinellas Park) will check the schedule to see if he can take it over, and if not he will email the group asking for someone else to take it on
- Sirsi Enterprise Discovery Tool (Glenn)
- Discovery tools (Glen) for all electronic holdings; years ago it was decided by LDAC that patrons did not want all results on queries; could this decision be reevaluated, giving users an option whether to search “regular” holdings or all content? Dino commented that FEL might be the only database that might be able to be incorporated.
- Motion: Request that Dino/PPLC explore the possibility of bringing FEL and other database metadata into the Sirsi discovery interface, all content that is available, as a request for PPLC staff to investigate.

- November test pilot delayed by storms; launch now planned for January 2025. More customization is needed before launch.
- Authentication through the Catalog
- Specific database access can be populated with direct links on our websites (see Exhibit A at the end of this document), to achieve authentication via library card number. This will help with databases that require authentication but do not provide a method for it. PPLC can help with this process, if needed. The landing pages would not be searchable from the web.
- Annual Stats. Stats are due by 11-20-2024 – enter into Counting Opinions but do not hit Send (PPLC needs to review before they are sent)
- Annual financial reports. Financial reports are due 11-27-24 – all PPLC libraries should remind their finance departments or others responsible for submitting the report

- New playground installed; grand opening on 11-23-24; muralist will be onsite and kids will help paint

- Two successful events; offsite murder mystery event (fundraiser) with a murder mystery company at a golf course clubhouse.
- Celebrated 25 years for ELCL on 11-9-24 with contests, music, and commemorative library cards.
- Capital campaign was delayed due to storm recovery, and will likely kick it off in February.

- Actively participating in storm recovery efforts. Oldsmar History Museum now open, where the library used to be across from City Hall.

- Nearing the end of a shelving project with county MSTU special project grant/funds.
- Pinellas Park, Dave McMurrin
- New mural being planned; the link for submissions will close 12-2-24.
- Print on demand is coming soon and will be available on the website and mobile devices.
- The city’s park station was housing the art society but are closing for renovation, so the society will temporarily be housed at Ponce; a group study area will be designated for them and will double as a reservable space.
- They are renovating the lobby and giftshop area near the front of the building.

- The expansion is about 65% complete – exterior painting in process, and the look is very modern. There was some water damage from Hurricane Milton that will be addressed.
- Graduation ceremony for Career Online high School will happen soon.
- St. Petersburg, Beth Lindsay
- Construction at Obama Main is coming along; some water damage in the mechanical room from the storms.
- Five open Librarian I positions.

- Carpeting successfully installed (third time in two years).
- Two new digital display monitors using
- CloudBased digital display system (free versions).
- Open LA I positions in Circ and Youth Services.

- Two museums that were going to join Museum Pass program were delayed by the storms; Heritage Museum and Safford House Museum will hopefully be added in early 2025
