How to get a library card

Requirements

• Not currently have a PPLC Library Card
• Be 16 years old or older, AND
• Be a resident or property owner of unincorporated areas of Pinellas County OR, Clearwater, Dunedin, East Lake, Gulfport, Largo, Madeira Beach, North Redington Beach, Oldsmar, Palm Harbor, Pinellas Park, Redington Beach, Redington Shores, Safety Harbor, Seminole, St. Pete Beach, St. Petersburg, Tarpon Springs, or Treasure Island.

Documents Needed

• Provide a valid Florida driver’s license/Florida identification card with a local address
• OR an alternate valid picture ID and one of the following:
• Your current TRIM notice
• A current utility bill (includes cable television)
• A long-term lease on a property (6 mos. or greater)
• A deed to property
• Vehicle registration or title (current year)
• Voter’s registration
• Other government-issued identification with address

Temporary Access

• You will be given a temporary library card number and pin. This account gives you access to place up to 5 holds on physical items and checkout 1 digital item on Libby.

Convert your temporary account to a permanent library card

• Visit a PPLC Member Library within 14 days to receive your permanent library card and receive full access to all materials and electronic resources.
• Be prepared to provide a photo ID and proof of your current Pinellas County address.

• Your PPLC card may be used at any Member Library
• Be prepared to show your PPLC card each time you visit a Member Library
• Cards issued for children under 16 may require parent/guardian signature

Residents of non-member cities in Pinellas County may purchase a card for $100 for 1 year

Non-member cities include: Belleair, Belleair Beach, Belleair Bluffs, Belleair Shore, Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shores, Kenneth City, and South Pasadena.

All cities except Belleair Shore reimburse all or most of this fee.
