Art Showcase @ the Library: Pamela Joy Trow
Local Artist Pamela Joy Trow’s colorful images and meticulous details transport the viewer into a fantastical world of deep expression and meaning. Trow sees and captures the characters of her art with a unique blend of whimsy and depth. Working in a variety of media; acrylic and ink, fiber, digital, and mixed media, Trow’s imagery will create a fervent interest in the meaning behind her pieces.

Hispanic Heritage Month Crafts
For Ages 13-18. Take & Make Crafts will feature crafts for Hispanic Heritage Month, which we celebrate from September 15 to October 15.

Teen Book Boxes
For Ages 13-18. Book Boxes are full of surprises! Inside you’ll find a free book, fun freebies, and tasty treats. New Book Boxes will be released the second Friday of the month. Boxes are first come, first served and teens must be present to pick-up. One per person. Available while supplies last.

All Ages. Go on a scavenger hunt around the Children’s Department to find some critter friends from Animal Crossing. Count all the different villager species whether it be cats, squirrels, eagles, or dogs for a chance to win a prize! Be careful though! Tom Nook will switch out the Library’s villagers after two weeks! Pick up an entry form at the children’s service desk and start your search! All correct answers will be entered to win a prize!

Library Scavenger Hunt

For Ages 3-5. September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! Whether you already have a library card or not, come on into the Children’s Department to complete a scavenger hunt and be entered to win a library-themed prize! Winners will be contacted by phone. Good luck!

Take-Home Tuesdays: School-Age Craft Programming
There will be 2-3 different craft activity kits available weekly, starting on Tuesdays, as noted below. The following week, you can join our staff online for step-by-step instructions at the date and time listed on your kit. Instructions on where to find the videos will be provided in each kit. The activities are designed for children ages 5-12, but if you have any questions or want to share pictures of your craft activities, you can always email us at Registration is limited to 3 craft kits per family per week. Any additional registrations will be cancelled. Registrations can be made online or by calling 727.587.6715.

Take & Make Crafts

For Ages 13-18. Stop by the Teen Room to pick up a crafting kit to take home! Main supplies included. New kits will be available on select Tuesdays and you can pick them up throughout the week while supplies last.

Children’s Weekly Take and Make Crafts
Starting October 11th.
Visit the Children’s Room each week to check out our selection of Take & Make Crafts for kids and tweens! This month the themes are: Hispanic Heritage Month, Fire Safety, Happy Halloween. One per child per week. (Ages 3 and up).

Children’s Fall Reading Program
For Ages 6-9. Log minutes read to earn prizes!  Come to the library to collect prizes at 6 and 12 hours. Ongoing thru 12/4.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten
For Ages 0-5. Enjoy reading 1,000 books with your little ones! Create an online account on Beanstack and log reading to earn badges. Come to the Youth Services desk to celebrate their achievement by collecting a small reward (stickers, toys, books) for every 100 books read.

Teen Fall Reading
For Teens. Read 12 hours to be entered into a grand prize drawing. Ongoing thru 12/4.

Tween Fall Reading
For Ages 9-12. Log 12 hours of reading to be entered into a raffle for the grand prize. Ongoing thru 12/4.

Pen Pals Unite
Staff writers exchange cards and letters filled with inspiration, quotations, or simply send a kind hello to homebound residents.

Home delivery/return for local residents unable to get to library due to illness, disability, COVID-19 risk, or injury. Call 727-724-1525 x 4107.

Tween Craft To Go: Halloween Glass Painting
For Ages 9-12. Take home materials to make spooky artwork on a glass picture frame. Registration required. Registration open from 9/5 thru 10/4. Craft pickup is 10/5 to 10/9.

Tween Book Bag
For ages 9-12. Each tween book bag will include a tween book to keep, candy, bookmark, sticker, and more! Registration required. Registration open from 9/11 thru 10/10. Bag pickup is 10/11 to 10/23.

Tween Halloween Candy Taste Test Challenge Take Home Kit
For Ages 9-12. Taste test and rate different Halloween candy at home. Registration required. Registration open 9/19 thru 10/18. Kit pickup is 10/19 to 10/23.

Teen Book Box
For Ages 13-18. Each box will include a teen book for you to keep, snacks, bookmark, button, sticker, and more! Registration required. Registration open from 9/11 thru 10/10. Box pickup is 10/11 to 10/23.

9/11 Memorial Exhibition

Courtesy of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City, this educational exhibition of 14 posters recounts the events of September 11, 2001 through the personal stories of those who witnessed and survived the attacks. Includes archival photographs and images of artifacts from the Museum’s permanent collection that present the history of 9/11, its origins, and its ongoing implications. It explores the consequences of terrorism on individual lives and communities at the local, national, and international levels, and encourages critical thinking about the legacies of 9/11. September is Library Card Sign-up Month. Visit your local library to participate in the many events happening throughout the month. Bring a friend that needs a library card!

  • Barbara S. Ponce Public Library: Reading Doesn’t Stink! Visitors will be able to pet a skunk and will learn about the importance of skunks and other backyard critters andhow they help the ecosystem. While you’re here, sign up for a library card or get a 3 For Me card for children.
