- Roll Call – Lunch during Meeting Discussions
The meeting was called to order at 1:02pm by Lisa Kothe. Lisa welcomed Beth Lindsay.

- SIG Meeting Reports
- E-Content: There was no meeting to report on.
- Youth Services: Group met last Friday. Guest from Lakeshore Learning who led a discussion about legal aspects of storytimes, policies and procedures and awareness of the communities we serve for Pride displays. There was a survey and request for nominations for the SIG. Lois is seeking a replacement for her role as liaison beginning in August. Glenn asked if it were possible to permit non-directors to serve as liaisons to expand the pool of potential liaisons.
- Cataloging: Next meeting will be in May.
- Circulation/Borrower Services: Next meeting will be in May.
- Adult Services: There was no report; liaison was not present.
- DEIA: A representative from CASA was present and led a discussion about reporting sexual harassment and requested books for shelter guests. Group also discussed the upcoming Pride parade.

- Lisa requested Vice Chair assist with creation of agenda for June meeting, as she will be out the week prior. Noted we do not meet in May.
- PPLC Topics – CM: Last week Cheryl attended an open house in Lealman for the new Mid-County Assistant, Amy Davis. Was a discussion by the Board about the positive impact that Higi blood pressure machines installed at Pinellas Park Public Library is having on the public, which are also scheduled to be installed at Largo and at St. Petersburg Public Libraries. Cheryl also apprised the Board of the important work the libraries do throughout the county. There was also a discussion if staff at member libraries are familiar with their city’s public records request policy, based on a discussion at the YS SIG. Dino: Work on the online registration capability is ongoing; development work on mobile app is also ongoing.
- PPLC Board Meeting Update – LK: Lisa mentioned National Library Week. Betcinda presented on St. Pete Beach’s Exploring Human Origins display and related programming currently underway at the library; on a recent poetry event with their poet laureate, about their lightup your library campaign (to raise funds to acquire a Litebrite interactive display monitor. Board was interested in learning about the Toniebox collection and appear to be more engaged than previous boards. Cheryl added that there are 5 new Board members, who are closer, organizationally, to their libraries, which might help explain the difference.
- Public Comment: None.
- Announcements from PPLC Libraries (10 minutes)
- Lisa led a group discussion about whether any additional libraries are considering bringing back Sunday hours (currently Pinellas Park, Seminole and Countryside have Sunday hours). Beth mentioned that the Obama Library in St. Petersburg will be open on Sundays when it reopens (sometime in 2025).
- St. Pete Beach: Seeking a Librarian II who will eventually replace Betcinda as Library Director.
- Tarpon Springs: Recently held a ‘touch an instrument’ event; next Saturday will be hosting the St. Pete Sax Quartet.
- Seminole: Friends are hosting a silent auction this week, in conjunction with National Library Week, and a book sale next week; recently filled two vacancies: f/t Librarian II (Adult & Info Services) and p/t Lib Asst I (Circ); 3 more vacancies in Circ to fill due to recent retirements; college has gone out to bid for the installation of security cameras on campus, including the library; HVAC system is scheduled for an upgrade; carpeting has starting coming up again; college exploring long-term solution.
- PPLC: Sunshine state lists have been updated in each library’s holdings.
- East Lake: Annual volunteer appreciation breakfast has been scheduled for the fall. Planning for library 25th anniversary celebration this November. Junk in the trunk fundraiser planned for May 11th. Prepping next year’s budget.
- Palm Harbor: Prepping budget; anticipate will be a flat budget. Annual open house April 26th. Getting questions from Board members re: Pride displays (and other displays). Not planning any major changes to displays apart from folding Pride (and other displays) into summer reading program. Providing talking points for staff for when challenged. 2 staff vacancies: pt/ Marketing Coordinator and p/t Volunteer Coordinator.
- Pinellas Park: Bonnie, Borrower Services Sr. Librarian II is retiring at the end of May. AARP tax assistance ending this week. Held fun in the sun event featuring an inflatable.
- Gulf Beaches: Tai Chi and meditation programs ongoing due to popularity. Hosting poetry blackout event. Prepping budget. Interested in exploring more ‘analog’ programming (eg., journaling).
- St. Petersburg Library: Beth visited Obama Main recently and the work is progressing; anticipate construction completed in early 2025. Planning underway for summer programming. Have received requests for outreach.
- Oldsmar: No official date yet for roof or HVAC work, though anticipate it will occur this summer.
- Gulfport: Gulfport’s new poet laureate will be doing a program in conjunction with the library. Will categorize their Arts and Museum programs as “outreach.”
- Largo: Catherine(sp?) and Casey are recuperating and doing well, overall. Have commenced their “Free to Read” campaign, which includes a new library card design, and a read-in in the Butterfly Garden; events ‘til September promoting campaign. The upcoming Harriet Beecher Stowe fundraiser will feature Nan Colton.
