National Library Week is April 19–25, and this year’s theme, “Find Your Joy,” is an invitation to rediscover everything your library has to offer.
You already know your library is a great place to find great new authors and titles. You can also discover new hobbies, learn new skills, or connect with your neighbors at a library program. Libraries are places where curiosity is encouraged, creativity is sparked, and everyone is welcome to explore.
Across PPLC Member Libraries, Pinellas County residents find joy in many ways: attending story times with their children, using research tools like Ancestry with the assistance of the Pinellas Genealogy Society to discover their roots, participating in book clubs and workshops both on- and off-site, or working in quiet study rooms. If you care for an adult with mild cognitive impairment or dementia, consider attending the new Memory Café program at Seminole Community Library or the Caregivers & Companions Memory Café at Tarpon Springs Public Library.
Libraries also serve as community hubs. Largo Public Library partners with Pinellas County Schools to offer structured English classes and houses the Pinellas Genealogy Society. SHINE offers classes on Medicare basics and other health insurance topics at several PPLC Member Libraries. And, since the income tax filing deadline is approaching, AARP offers tax preparation assistance at participating libraries.
During National Library Week, we invite you to visit your Pinellas public library and experience the many ways it can bring joy to your life. Check out a book you’ve been meaning to read, attend a ukulele workshop, or simply spend some time exploring the resources available to you.
Check the event calendar for upcoming programs and events at your Pinellas public library. This April, find your joy at the library.
