Unearth a Story at Your Library

Summer is officially here, and your Pinellas public libraries are bringing the heat with programs and activities for everyone!

Summer Reading

There’s no shortage of ways to stay engaged this June, with summer reading programs kicking off at PPLC Member Libraries. Summer reading programs help children maintain their reading skills and learning momentum while school is out by making reading fun and rewarding. This year’s main summer reading theme, “Unearth a Story,” aims to spark exploration and curiosity inspired by archaeology, dinosaurs, and paleontology.

Join PPLC museum pass partner Great Explorations for fun, interactive youth programs at Pinellas Park Barbara S. Ponce Library and Gulfport Public Library. Adults can enjoy a field trip to the Dali Museum with East Lake Community Library. All ages can take part in a drum circle presented by Giving Tree Music at Oldsmar Public Library or enjoy programs from the Tampa Bay Ukulele Society at Safety Harbor Public Library. And that’s just a sample of the wide variety of arts and crafts programs, book discussions, performances, and activities that PPLC Member Libraries will host throughout the summer.

Reading with the Rays

PPLC is excited to once again partner with the Tampa Bay Rays for the Reading with the Rays summer program. Children in PreK through 12th grade can pick up a game card at participating libraries and read their way to the ballpark. That’s right, the Rays are back at Tropicana Field, and game tickets have returned as the home plate prize!

Score through Stories – Tampa Bay Rowdies

This is the first year the Tampa Bay Rowdies are expanding their Score through Stories summer reading program countywide. Like Reading with the Rays, children can pick up game books at participating libraries and track their reading hours to earn prizes, including tickets to a Rowdies match!

Summer adventures start at the library. This year, every page turned could lead to prizes, discoveries, and unforgettable memories.
